TX9W – The Team

Jeff Martin – K5WE

I was first licensed as a Novice in 1967. The DXing bug bit early. I now have 357 DXCC entities confirmed. I also like to operate contests as a casual participant from my modest home station. My favorite mode is CW, but these days I’m on FT8 a lot since that’s where much of the activity is. Married 53 years to wife Becky, we have 3 sons, a daughter, and 11 grandchildren. Two of my sons are hams. Later in life I’ve enjoyed traveling to a few DX locations and experiencing the DX end of the pileups…

A little about me:

I received my novice license at age of 13 in 1967.  In the year I was a Novice I confirmed 77 countries and worked even more.  I was in the 8th grade….. That was the beginning!  My current DXCC totals are 332/346 with my DXCC Challenge at just over 1500. Ham radio has greatly impacted the direction of my life. I actually owned a brick and mortar ham store for 8 years.  With FT8, I have become a serious DXer again. There is always some DX to work somewhere! I’ve made some interesting DX trips over the years but my favorites were operating from Wake Is. twice and Easter Island, a place I had wanted to visit since I was a kid.  I also hold a Canadian Advanced class license VO2XX.  Married for 42 years, my wife Marcia and I have 2 adult boys.  My only grandson is studying to take his Technician exam – he is 12 years old.

Dave Jorgensen – WD5COV

I was first licensed as a novice in 1977 and worked my first DXCC as a novice. Today, my DXCC total is 351 and DXCC challenge score is 3131.

Although CW is my favorite mode, I also enjoy working the pileups in SSB and digital. I am also a low band enthusiast and have 291 confirmed on top band from New Mexico.

Spent 21 years living in Denver Colorado running an industrial hose and fitting business which I sold in 2008. I have been married to my wife Sherri for 39 years and we have two rat terriers Balto and Remi. I enjoy traveling to exotic DX locations and putting the rare and semi rare DX entities on the air.

Jeremy Conkling – N5TEA

I was first licensed as a Technician in 2005 while living in Moore, OK. My initial interest in ham radio began in the severe weather spotting side of the hobby. I joined my local club, the South Canadian Amateur Radio Society, and during my first Field Day my interest shifted to HF and chasing DX. It did not take long for me to realize that my home station could not compete with the KOMA station towers located three blocks from my house. This forced me to primarily operate portable and at friend’s stations until moving to my current home in east Norman. I enjoy all modes, but have a real passion to improve my skills on CW. My wife and I have three children and both my wife and son are hams. I am a DXpedition rookie and look forward to experiencing the DX end of the pileups.
